Greensboro Bound Literary Festival
From Dan Pink to Hal Crowther and Lee Smith, more than 70 authors of all genres will come to Greensboro for the inaugural Greensboro Bound Literary Festival Friday-Sunday. There will be panel discussions by Muslim, Latinx, LGBTQ, transgender and undocumented writers. There also will be events for children and teens. Craft workshops, music events, performance poetry and a photography exhibition are also scheduled for the festival. Events will be held at a variety of downtown, or near downtown, venues. Beach Ball
The High Point Arts Council presents the Beach Ball, a dance party, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Station Arts Center at 121 S. Centennial St. in High Point. The Carolina 5 Band will perform beach, country and rock ’n’ roll. There will be a cash bar and food truck. Tickets are $20 by calling 336-889-2787, Ext. 26, or online at http://highpointarts.org.
Milo Holt Western Festival
Travel back to yesteryear during the Milo Holt Western Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Siler City. The seventh annual festival features screenings of old Westerns in the historic Gem Theater, cowboy and Native American re-enactors, B-Western film star impersonators, live music, children’s activities and vendors of Western memorabilia. The Chili Appreciation Society International’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Chili Championship will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market at 2914 Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax. The event is a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of North Carolina. A Cup of Blues will provide the music, and there will be games, prizes, food and raffles. Admission is free.
