EMF returns to Greensboro for 56th summer of music

The Eastern Music Festival will open its 56th summer season on Tuesday, bringing back renowned classical stars and adding more downtown performances — but discontinuing its Fringe series of alternative music.
For five weeks, the local nonprofit will entertain the public and train young musicians from around the world at Guilford College.
The faculty of 78 professional musicians and their 234 student musicians will perform concerts daily through July 29, except for July 4.
What: The Saturday night Joseph M. Bryan Jr. Festival Orchestra Series features high-profile artists performing with the faculty orchestra, led by Gerard Schwarz.
When: 8 p.m. July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
Where: Dana Auditorium, Guilford College at 710 Levi Coffin Drive, Greensboro
Tickets: $40 or $45 for adults, $35 or $40 for seniors and students. Packages for all five concerts are $175 or $205 for adults, $150 or $190 for seniors and students.
Most concerts are in Dana Auditorium, Guilford College, 5800 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro. Monday night faculty chamber concerts held in the Recital Hall of the UNC-Greensboro College of Visual and Performing Arts. Student chamber and piano recitals held in Sternberger Auditorium at Guilford College.
