Thousands of beer connoisseurs, animal lovers and music fans will converge in Greensboro on Saturday for the 14th annual Summertime Brews Festival.
“This year we have about 170 breweries from all over the world,” said Dave Aiken, festival chair. “All the local breweries and a lot of state and regional breweries will be there.”
The festival will be at the Special Events Center at Greensboro Coliseum Complex, where attendees will be able to sample beers while listening to live music.
Two bands will perform: Cory Luetjen and the Traveling Blues Band, based in Randolph County, and Cassette Rewind from Charlotte. Festival proceeds benefit the Animal Rescue and Foster Program (ARFP), a Greensboro-based not-for-profit organization that works to place abandoned puppies and kittens in good homes. ARFP volunteers check IDs at the doors during the Summertime Brews Festival.
“It’s probably the largest fundraiser for them for the year,” Aiken said.
Festival attendees receive a sampling glass, with water stations provided for rinsing. The breweries occupy 10-by-10-foot booths in two exhibit halls and offer sample pours of about 3 ounces, Aiken said. Beer consumption is allowed indoors and out, with food trucks stationed just outside the Special Events Center.
$30 general admission or $55 VIP
